The University of Alcalá was founded in 1499. At present, it has 26.000 students spread over three campuses and offers, among others, the following degrees: Tourism, Managerial Sciencies, Telecommunications, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Philology, Chemistry, Medicine, History. Det Internationale Universitet Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) har siden 1982 organiseret sine aktiviteter i flere forskellige galliciske byer, men dog hovedsageligt i A Coruña. UIMPs aktiviteter i Galicien programmeres generelt i juli måned(i A Coruña-Ferrol) og i september-oktober (i Pontevedra). I begge tilfælde, og siden det galiciske universitetssystems indførelse i 1989, hvor universiteterne i A Coruña og i Vigo blev grundlagt, bliver programmerne planlagt i samarbejde med disse to universiteter, fordi kurserne og seminarerne afholdes i deres campus. Eleverne kommer fra alle tre galliciske universiteter, dog flest fra universitetet i A Coruña, og et stort antal elever kommer også fra forskellige sydamerikanske og portugisiske universiteter.

The University of Santiago de Compostela has a wide experience in philologists and teachers training, as well as Spanish teaching for foreigners in collaboration with International Courses Department.
